The cupped nose design has enough expansion to open to caliber diameter and create a large permanent wound channel with deep, straight line penetration. I’m getting 7/8in groups with these in my win model 94 444 marlin with 1/38 twist at 2600fps over 47gr of imr4227. The win 94 big bore action is considerably stronger than the marlins so use caution.
At 50yards this bullet passed though chest to ass of a 400lb sika stag, DRT. Great setup for those who might need a flatter trajectory but may also encounter bears etc. Don’t let the light weight or SD numbers fool you, at speed these things will penetrate deep!
This bullet may be better than other offering from hammer for 1/38 levers as it is shorter and stabilizes well. The cup seems to create a hydrostatic effect similar to woodleighs bullet but still early to tell. Been excellent so far.
