We decided it was time to zip up the ‘ol 30-30 with a light weight Lever Stone Hammer™. Should be able to get this one around 2700 to 2800 fps in the 30-30. For typical 100 yard or so work this will be very good with that kind of velocity.
You guys that want to run this in your high power rifles should have a Ball!!!

I’m new to reloading. When I say new, I mean I’ve reloaded less than 40 rounds. I bought a sample pack of the .308 120g Lever Shock Hammers for my 1976 model 336 Marlin 30-30. After loading and shooting them I was seriously impressed. BL-C(2) powder, Starline Brass, Ginex Primer. I split the difference between some closely weighted loading data for my starter load. I made a mistake buying just the sample pack. More will be on the way soon.

I loaded these bullets in 30-06 at 2,900 FPS. I made them as a low pressure round for my late great-grandfathers first year production Remington 740. The receivers on these rifles are notoriously weak. I was fortunate enough to use this load to shoot a whitetail this past fall. I was very impressed with the terminal performance. It was about a 75-yard shot, the bullet entered just in front of the right shoulder, and exited just behind the left. The deer dropped right in it’s tracks, without even a kick. Meat loss was almost non-existent, very little bloodshot meat. This bullet helped breathe some life back into a family heirloom, and turned it into a formidable meat retrieval weapon.

I ordered them by mistake, Thought I clicked on the 143’s A real thumper out of an 06.I was going to send them back but they just looked like they would be fun to play with. Loaded them in my 30-06 and started working up with Varget. At 55.5 I got a good group but I believe there is room to go higher and like all Hammers, the faster you push them the better they shoot. I’ll be back to the range at 56 gr and see if the group gets tighter. That massive hollow point at around 3400 fps Is going to the lights out on just about anything it hits. I also tried them in my 308 with IMR 4895. Did a ladder test and covered the group with a nickel. looks Like a node around 43 gr and I may just stop right there, 2868 fps and a tiny group. Low recoil and most of our shots are under 100 yards, that may be perfect for my needs at close range.
