This Hammer Hunter gets the “Heavy” moniker because we designed this bullet to be as heavy as we could make it, and still have a pointed nose, and stabilize in a 1-9″ twist rate. This bullet will be good for the older .264 caliber rifles that commonly have a 1-9″ twist. Runs great out of the .264 Winchester magnum.

I’ve tried many bullet and powder combos for my Remington Sendero VSSF II 264 Win Mag and only achieved 3/4 MOA @ 100 yards at best with another manufacturers 120 gr. ballistic tips. I didn’t like that load is it would explode on impact on deer and hogs with no to little penetration. All factory ammo that I had tried sprayed 2-3 MOA. I was about to take the rifle to the smith to get it blueprinted and re-barreled when I heard about the 121 Heavy Hammers. I thought I’d give it one last try first, and wow! I worked my way up on charges of H-1000 to max with no pressure signs using 120 gr. bullet load data from the Hodgdon website. So far the best load is a medium charge that yields 1/2 MOA @ 3200 fps. with SD of 7.5, and ES of 15. I found that each grain of powder added yielded about 40-50 fps. gain in my rifle. The groups started opening up about 3250 fps. I’m sure there may be a faster accuracy node, but I’m happy with 3200. Looking forward to seeing the performance on game.

The 121 HH is not the sleekest bullet in the hammer line, but it is very impressive on game. I am running it in a 6.5RPM with a 24″ 8 twist. Ave. velocity is 3407fps and accuracy is excellent. I finally took the time to take photos of the damage created. In the photo you can see the one lung was just shredded to nothing and 40% of the other lung was also just floating in the chest. The heart was cut in half and I set the piece I could find on the windpipe. The best part is there was no meat loss. This was a high heart, double lung shot at 160 yards with a silver dollar exit. There was no bruising at all to either shoulder or the back straps. This was a 140 pound doe whitetail. She ran 15 yards and left a blood trail Ray Charles could follow. This bullet is terminal perfection.
